Playgroup and You
What do parents do in a playgroup?
You are always welcome at Playgroup, for parents are as much part of the playgroup as their children. There are always jobs that need doing, and many children enjoy having the company of another adult to play and talk with.
It is important for your child that you take an active part in Playgroup any way you can so that they feel that you too are part of the Playgroup. You may be able to share a special skill or interest such as music, cooking dance or movement with the children. Feel free to come along anytime.
The other most important job for parents in the Playgroup is the committee. The Playgroup belongs to the families who use it and it is the Parent Committee that runs the business side of the playgroup, in close co-operation with the staff. The committee, which acts on behalf of the parents, is elected at the Annual General Meeting, usually held in the Autumn Term and normally serve for a year.
The aim of the committee is to work alongside staff in maintaining the standards expected by parents. It also raises funds to buy new and replace old equipment & toys. We always welcome new ideas and suggestions for the Playgroup and appreciate your support.
Parents are always welcome and can join in a session at any time. We encourage parents to share any skills or interests or just come along and read a story!
